Wired C-Bus

A wired C-Bus system consists of relays, dimmers, and control units such as switches and movement sensors. These are all interconnected by a UTP bus cable, which carries all communications. Because of this wiring it is more suited to installations in new buildings or re-wire situations. Each unit on the C-Bus network has it's own built in microprocessor allowing it to operate independently and making it extremely reliable because there is no reliance on a central computer or control point. C-Bus allows multiple commands to be sent and received simultaneously at a high speed. This 2-way communication also allows devices to share information amongst themselves.

Wireless C-Bus

C-Bus Wireless is designed for the retro fit market where traditional 240 volt wiring exists and there is a need to add Automation without re-wiring. The wireless switches also have their own microprocessor and a built in antenna which allows them to communicate to other C-Bus equipment via Radio signals. While it shares the same reliability and intelligent features of the wired system, the range of products is not as large at the moment.
Wired and wireless systems can be joined via a wireless gateway allowing hybrid systems to be formed. This means that touchscreens, various sensors, and computers can be linked to the wireless switches to bring full C-Bus convenience and flexibility to any installation. A typical example would be an extension to a home where the new section uses wired C-Bus, and the existing part of the home can use C-Bus wireless components. A gateway can then communicate between the two systems allowing seamless interaction and control.'
